Earlier Than Expected, But Right on Time

Last night, shortly after writing my last blog post I went into the hospital because I tested my blood pressure and it was pretty high. I had Preeclampsia after delivering my last son, so I knew it was a risk factor and decided to exercise extra caution because of it. It was high, and so the asked that I stay and be induced. At around 12:30 I had the pitocin installed in my IV, and Read more…

Due Any Day Now…

So our baby is due any day now… baby number two! I have no idea if we’re prepared or not, its such a different beast to expect baby number two than your first. In some regards, I’m sure we’re more prepared… we know what to expect from the delivery… we know better than to expect to ever sleep through the night again. We know more than we did before we had Cole with regards to Read more…

Getting Induced… Again?

So I just scheduled a day to get induced. This was not my dream delivery. We were induced with our first. I accredit this to us having lazy babies that simply don’t want to do the whole “being born” thing. I had a dream with Cole of a pleasant water birth in one of the lovely birthing tubs at the hospital we use. The tub stopped the contractions during active labor last time.   The Read more…

10 Foods to Pre Make and FREEZE for Nights When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking

I clean a bit everyday and I have a child, so I do a certain amount of cooking every day. I also get up and make coffee and pack Alex’ lunch since he’s the only one working full-time outside of our house right now. I’m sure astute homemakers are cringing at the idea of reheating foods for your family, and others are asking why I’m packing lunch for a grown ass man, but it is Read more…

4 Toddler Hacks for When You Have No Energy Left.

So we have a 20 month old. He’s insane and he climbs on everything and jumps on everything, and touches anything… firstly, anything that he is sure he is NOT supposed to play with. And then we have me… SUPER pregnant, third trimester, ridiculously exhausted and while I get bursts of motivation, they seem to be getting fewer and farther between as this pregnancy progresses.   I was getting really, REALLY overwhelmed and feeling almost Read more…

The Stress is real!

Do you ever just look around your house and think “what the F%$# happened to my life?” I love my baby, I love my spouse, I love our unborn baby, but man OH MAN, did I ever have more control over my existence only three years ago. My life has always been formatted and I’ve always adhered to routines, but there was always “wiggle room”. There is no wiggle room in my life any longer. Read more…

Why You Need a Diaper Party

Diaper parties are about diapers, yes, but they’re also about your baby daddy getting a last hurrah with his friends before his life morphs into that of constant baby care. He needs it, his friends need it, its good for everyone. Diapers are something that every baby uses, whether cloth or disposable, so theres a functional aspect too. Your friends want to feel like they’re contributing to your baby. Sure they’ll disappear once you need Read more…

How I Saved over $14,000 in a Single Year!

This is from my old, pre-babies blog, but it still has some legit savings opportunities I thought I should share here too (who can’t use savings, right?!?). As you’ll see in a post from when I found out I was pregnant with our first baby, I did pick up smoking again after this post that references 2010 and 2012 but quit when that pregnancy began. I’m not perfect.   SOMETHING I KNOW A LOT ABOUT. So, Read more…

A One-Year-Old and a CRAZY Grandma

A one-year-old is a strange and wonderful being. So active, so loving, and while improving communication skills, they’re still not great. Its a weird place for me. I feel like he’s growing too fast, and that if I blink, I’ll miss too much, but I also look forward to the point where my little buddy can tell me what he wants instead of crying because he feels like I’ll never help him. I Love him Read more…

The Nine Month Old

So our little bear is nine months old! awwww shit! Its pretty crazy to think that this tiny person who once just smiled now walks along the side of furniture, crawls with toys in his hands, climbs out of ALL of his seats and says Dada, Mama, Baba, Uh-Oh, and replicates the sound of siren. I’m dumb-founded. It still breaks my heart when he cries. And I still lose my shit with pride every time Read more…

Working from home 100% is a BIG objective now.

Before we had our baby, my drive was to find a career. Any career. I applied to major companies and a couple of startups, but literally THOUSANDS of jobs in total. I was spammed, and spammed and spammed again by “recruiters” but not many with great reputations, and the more reputable ones were without the jobs to give. It’s been over a year and I still have no job offers other than for insurance jobs. I Read more…

Strange Pregnancy Symptoms

1.Needing to pee! Its not just when your baby gets big inside of you that the need to pee every 14 seconds happens… it can happen for the majority of your pregnancy. With my first pregnancy I didn’t have this too much, but during my second pregnancy (which started about a year after my first son was born) I had to pee constantly from as early in my pregnancy as I can recall. I don’t Read more…

Stay at Home Mom…

So, I never realized before I had our son how much I wouldn’t want to leave his side once he was born. Maybe its weird that I didn’t know, but we were, Alex and I,  just so wrapped up in planning and making sure things were “taken care of” prior to our little guy’s arrival. So then he was born! Our little nearly eight pound wonder, and I became desperate to spend every moment with Read more…

The Gadget that Allowed Me to Sleep!

So, as a first-time Mom, I was completely unable to sleep easily, and it wasn’t simply because of the babies frequent needs, whether they be for a fresh diaper or a meal. I found I couldn’t sleep because I had so much anxiety that something would happen to him. I feared SIDS would take him, and I couldn’t find peace enough to get rest. While looking up SIDS statistics for the millionth-or-so time, I found Read more…

Babies are WEIRD!

Our little dude is now FIVE WHOLE MONTHS OLD! There are so many things I just never realized before he came along, too. I’ve Nannied, and learned a lot from that, but it truly isn’t until you have your own child or a child that you live with day-in-and-day-out that you realize babies are really WEIRD! Its true, babies are weird. Our little guy will only burp once you stop patting his back. He will Read more…

10 Tips to Improving Time Management Skills

Leave Time between tasks to prepare or deal with any commute. You can plan every moment, and the moment you stop giving yourself times between tasks is the very moment your day falls apart. Stop. Leave tasks for another time if they’re not imperative and if you’ll have more time on another day. If you do so much that you feel burnt out, it could affect tasks for your next scheduled day. It’s okay to Read more…

SIX Blogging Tasks to Check Off of Your List Before Baby Arrives

Blogging Tasks to Check Off of Your List Before Baby Arrives 1.Time-Management – so you wont know when your baby has to poop, pee, eat by looking at a schedule, but you will know before the baby even arrives that there will be nap times. Try to plan out what you would do if you only have three hours a day (assume the rest of your hours will be spend doing other things). Plan that Read more…

L&D

Labor & Delivery   So the idea of giving birth to another human being, regardless of their size, can be a terrifying prospect, but what’s more terrifying than the actual process is how little people share on the topic. You can read all the books and online blogs… you can ask your doula or your doctor, but at the end of the day, when you go to give birth to your blessed spawn, you are Read more…

8 Minutes Ago Eight minutes ago, I met the love of my life… or at least that’s how it feels sometimes. A little over a year ago, I decided to join a dating site. I wanted to meet new people and I liked the idea of having a computer arbitrarily give me a percentage that a person would match up with me. I joined OKCupid. I believe the first person I messaged was Alex. However, Read more…
